What is Pyrrolidinyl Diaminopyrimidine Oxide? 

Its Chinese name is 吡咯烷基二氨基嘧啶氧化物 (Pyrrolidinyl Diaminopyrimidine Oxide). As evident from its chemical name, a Pyrrolidinyl group has been introduced to the core “diaminopyrimidine oxide” structure. This modification is designed to enhance its lipophilicity and skin permeability, potentially allowing it to penetrate the scalp’s stratum corneum barrier more easily and reach the hair follicle targets, theoretically resulting in more potent or stable efficacy.

Applications:

1. Anti-Hair Loss:

   • Inhibits Fibrosis: This is its core function. It effectively inhibits the activity of Lysyl Oxidase. This enzyme is key to the excessive cross-linking and hardening of collagen around hair follicles. By inhibiting it, it softens the hardened tissue surrounding the follicle, reducing pressure on the follicle, thereby preventing hair from prematurely entering the telogen (resting) phase and falling out.

   • Prolongs Anagen Phase: By improving the follicular microenvironment, it effectively prolongs the hair’s growth phase (Anagen Phase), allowing hair to grow longer and stronger.

2. Hair Growth Stimulation:

   • By relieving suppression and pressure on the follicle and providing a healthier microenvironment for dermal papilla cells, it promotes the growth of new hair and helps slow down the process of follicle miniaturization (a hallmark of androgenetic alopecia).

3. 5-alpha-reductase Inhibition:

   • Some studies suggest it may have some inhibitory effect on the 5α-reductase enzyme, thereby reducing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is the main culprit behind androgenetic alopecia.
